Is western society stepping away from love?
For whatever reason, in the west, deeply connected, romantic relationships are not encouraged. Why is that when romantic relationships provide a platform like no other for two people to grow?
I see two major components to romantic relationships that are often overlooked.
There is the outer layer – The Platform of Pleasure where fun is had, hobbies are explored, companionship is shared, and laughter is plentiful.
There is also the inner layer—The Platform for Growth; the ultimate place to challenge yourself and each other to be the best you can be. It is also the place in your relationship where you can be sexually intimate, inspired and supported to stretch, grow and evolve. Romantic relationships have so much to offer.
Why are adults in the west not encouraged to respect or even appreciate the uniqueness of romantic relationships, often encouraged to complain about what is wrong instead of focusing on what is great about it?
Western education nor the entertainment industry stress the significance and importance of intimate connection between two adults who love each other.
What are they missing? Love is not a social construct. Love is a form of energy, and it is limitless. It is a feeling that is generated in our hearts, and it involves feeling deeply for ourselves and others. Love is a force like no other and romantic love has a place all its own in our adult lives. Romantic love is a vitally important aspect of life that has been overlooked for too long and is being revived in many hearts around the world and I believe it is time we started to give it the attention it deserves.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well and it all starts with intention. Humans are creators, so set the intention to co-create a great relationship with your partner. Anything is possible when you set great intentions. Change the energy of your relationship by setting the intention to have an amazing relationship (and life) with your partner.
Get to know what is important to your partner and what they like. Are you in union with a partner who reciprocates and is interested in what is important to you?
Do you feel comfortable sharing what is important to you?
Relationships don’t have to be so complicated, and without knowing the fundamentals of what makes a relationship great it can easily be steered off course.
There are enough modern-day stresses to complicate things without adding selfish motives to the mix. Don’t focus on what you want out of your relationship. Instead focus on what you want to experience in your relationship.
Romantic relationships involve sharing your heart and soul with another, it is about what you want to experience with another man or woman. A romantic union can be like no other when built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust. For all the above reasons it is worth protecting your relationship.
As with most things in life, it is all about balance. Keep in mind, doing everything together can suffocate a relationship quickly. Respect your relationship by keeping it a priority in your life while maintaining your own autonomy and expect the same from your partner. Both partners should be able to meet their own needs and wants to keep the relationship interdependent and not co-dependent.
Take your relationship where you want it to go. What would you and your partner like your romantic relationship to look like? Take time to reflect about your relationship and visualize what you can co-create. Want the best for both of you. Communicate with your partner and ask them what they would like to experience within your union. What is best for you, what is best for your partner and what is best for your relationship? Your relationship is your creation, it is a sacred space for the two of you. Respect personal boundaries and honour the boundaries you create within your relationship.
So share your goals, dreams, and aspirations with each other, dream big and make romance great again.
